Operation Compassion: Calera, Alabama Warehouse

 Operation
Compassion, a Ministry of Blessing, distributes food, clothes, medical
supplies, etc. all year long to places across America and in other
countries throughout the world. Their main national distribution
center in the United States is located in Calera, Alabama, with
a full-time staff of 6 as well as other part-time workers. They
maintain semi-trucks, trailers and box trucks at this location and
send out as many as 250 semi-trucks a year.
At the warehouse, they always procure the project before distributing
and then concentrate on 4 main areas of priority in the United States
as well as worldwide disaster areas. Their four main areas of priority
here in the U.S. include the following: Appalachia-the Kentucky/West
Virginia border; Delta-the Mississippi/Louisiana border; Texas-the
Southwest Texas/Mexican border; and Arizona-the Western Arizona/Mexican
border.
 Operation
Compassion has set very important ministry goals for the year 2001.
These include: maintaining a fleet of 20 semi-trucks, providing
a full-time staff of procurement specialist and grant-writers, as
well as providing resources for Care Ministries and all departments
of the Church of God international Offices.
They also hope to gain local church and laity resources on all
aspects of benevolence ministry, such as, local, regional, state
and national training seminars; VCR, DVD, Cd-Rom and Internet training
resources; books, booklets and manuals; and state directors and
training resource personnel in every state and region.
Some of their more future goals include: a National Sponsorship
Program, which would focus on back to school and Christmas toy stockings;
and a Children of the World Project, including world-wide Vitamin
E distribution; Sav-a-baby diaper bag; and US Department of Aid
grain distribution.
