Operation Compassion to Send 7 Semi-Loads Within First
Few Weeks After Tragedy
9/21/01
Operation Compassion continues to assist in the New York City disaster.
Altogether, they will be sending 7 semi-loads within the first few
weeks. They have begun collecting supplies upon request from the
ground rescue workers there. At this time, the relief workers have
requested they send batteries, towels, toothbrushes, socks, snack-foods
and candy, as well as 2000 blankets. Also collected was a semi-load
of gifts from the “Feed the Children” organization in
Nashville, TN. The gifts were donated by school children who wrote
the names of the firemen on the gifts. They wanted to do something
special for them to extend their ‘thanks’ for their
continued efforts.
The response to help has been so great in the U.S. that Operation
Compassion has even been asked to pick up loads of items in New
York not needed by rescue workers to take to other emergency organizations
throughout the United States who help orphans, disaster areas, etc.
Operation Compassion will continue to aid the rescue workers in
the upcoming weeks and throughout the U.S. where they are needed.
They extend their sincere thanks to all those who have donated during
this time of tragedy.
